Claymations

Claymations

Language Arts By: Emily & Megan

Writer’s Workshop: Lately, we have been doing our Creative Writing pieces. You could write about anything that you wanted, as long as it was in the first person. Everyone’s pieces are different, and it’s fun to read them, and see their ideas that they came up with. People’s stories have varied from pieces about laptop delinquents to magic leprechauns dancing and unicorn stories.

Reader’s Workshop: We have just finished our book clubs, and we made claymations within our groups. Claymations are videos when you make everything out of clay, then move them slightly and take a picture. After 30 pictures or so, you put them on a PowerPoint and play them really fast. Then, it looks like they’re moving. Before we did the claymations, we were responding to individual sections of our book club books that we got to choose. We also just finished The Schwa was Here, our read aloud book. He wasn’t there, he was here. It was an interesting story, and also very funny. (stop here) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG GIRL! I CAN’T BELIEVE HE WOULD DO THAT! SOMEONE CALL 9-1-1! BRB! TTYL GIRLFRIEND! ;)

Science By: Janie & J.B.

This month in Science, we finished our Matter and Energy unit. We just started our Space unit. We are now making a game board mission that includes all the stuff we learned. Some of us are including the information in the game, and some of us are writing the information on index cards to use during the game. All the while, we are still learning more things about space and writing them down in a packet that’s 8 pages long (!). For example, did you know that Jupiter is gas planet? Or that Uranus spins on its side? At the end of next week, we will be finished with our game board mission.

Social Studies By: Emma &Charlene

For social studies, the three chapters which is ancient china, mapping, and Greece. For china we learned about Huang river valley, Anyang, Xianyang and Changan, in the whole unit we learned the religion and daily life in china. For projects we painted a Chinese adjective describing us. At the end of the unit we took one big test. The next unit was mapping. Even though it was a short lesson we learned what are longitude and latitude, Political and physical. Instead of a test we made a map of whatever we wanted. Lastly we just started ancient Greece. Even though we just finished lesson 2, we already had a quiz on the map of Greece. Lastly we are just finishing the big cities Athens and Sparta.

Math (Expressions) By: Mikayla

February math 6th grade has done a lot of different math. We have been working on cross division. We also did factor puzzles and the answer ended up being a fraction not just a number.

In math we have also been working with charts, then graphing the information on the chart. We have also been doing algebra. Algebra is equations with variables.

Example: 4+6y=24

What I think about what we have been learning. I thought it was pretty average for me. I hope to learn more about equations with variables. I think that the equations are the easiest for me.

Math (ALEKS) By: Greg

ALEKS Math - In Mrs.Fulfer's math class, we are doing a program called aleks. It is online and you get to work at your own pace. I like that feature, because some people are faster learners than other people, and it allows them to be at their level own level. Most people are either done with Pre-Algebra and moved on to Algebra, or almost done with Pre-Algebra. Only three people have completed Algebra. Once Every Quarter, we do a math project that is not aleks related. We haven't had a project this quarter yet.

Explosive news has erupted from the secret agent art room. Clay castles are piling up in the storage room. Mrs. Cormany has come back and now she’s on a mission to make us strive for the best projects EVER!
Sadly, Mrs. McCune has left the building. We thank her for helping with Mission: Clay Castle, Mission: Cave Drawing, and Mission: Egyptian Hieroglyphics.

Hola! Nosotros somos bonitas, intelligentes, delgadas, y jovenes. Enough of that, let’s talk about Spanish! We just finished our Spanish tests and are ready for our next project. Also our next mission is going to the crazed little kids. Wish us good luck!

Presidential fitness tests (sigh) are now in action. So far, we’ve done our sit-ups test. We both passed though. Next up, the dreaded shuttle run. (Dun, dun, dun)

School Lunch Editorial By: Kathryn & Jenni

I think I’m not the only one questioning the school lunches. There are lots of complaints about the food going around amongst the kids. Most of the time it’s not hot and sometimes it’s not even warm. The lunches are very average. I think we need more variety. There are only 10 or so lunches that we rotate through. More options would be better. The students definitely get tired of constantly eating the same foods over and over. The objective of school lunch should be to make sure we are eating healthy, but still getting what we want at the same time.
In February, a chef came to our school and made us some new food. Our girl classmates think the chef should come more often. She made us good food that was good for us, too. It was different from what we usually eat. They also think we should have back the popcorn chicken that the school took off the menu.
The boys think the food should not be burnt. They also said they should use fresh and natural ingredients. For example; the cheese tastes artificial or fake. (the boys actually said it tastes like plastic) Also, the few lunches they actually like should be cooked and served more often.
We all agree the lunches should be healthier all together. Students want better quality food that is delicious, hot, and healthy.

Girls Select Soccer

When playing a classic game of soccer, nearly all of the work is done by the players. Yet who is there, to criticize and evaluate? Who is there to congratulate on a job well done? Who is there to scream at the referee’s, and possibly at players as well? The answer; coaches.
The actual truth is, a lot of effort behind the scenes of a typical game comes from the coaches. And who is better suited to coach, than one who has coached other coaches, as well as players? Bryan Seib, who has trained previous coaches for the select soccer team, is taking the roll as current coach. The team sadly says goodbye to previous instructor Tim Jones, and says hello to Bryan.
The first meeting with the coach took place at Queen of Apostles Church, on a typical Saturday morning; promptly at 9:30 a.m. Players who met the lively instructor included Emily Wagner, Cali Bulacan, Madison Sterling, Jess Fonte, Maggie Spankowski, Celina Schwantes, Annika Wille, Izzy DeAnglis, Megan Kading, and Sydney Rogowski. Players that are out of our district involve May, Matty, Sarah, and Kaylee.

Girls Select Volleyball

After a shocking disappointment in a tournament only weeks before, the girls’ volleyball team is determined to do better. They’ve defeated other teams multiple times but this time it was different. They got second in the silver division because they lost to the Penguins black team. They also lost against Eclipse, and neither team got a medal.
“We lost to the Penguins but we still got second even though we didn’t win a medal. The Penguins proved to be advanced in the tournament, but Eclipse was a team that we should have beaten.” Says a disappointed Jenni.
Yet this tournament was one of many, and still more to come. On the 10th and 11th they have an upcoming tournament in Whitewater, and they are set to demolish every team in their way.

Basketball

Recreation and Select basketball are the two types of teams that girls in 6th grade play at our school. Some 5th graders play Select too, but 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th all play recreation basketball, just not in the same level. Recreation is still going on and we only have the Opi Tournament left. There are 8 teams total for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The team names are Huskies, Ducks, Rainbow Warriors, Gators, Badgers, and there’s more but I just can’t remember.
There is the red team (lower ranking) and the black team (higher ranking) in select. Kathryn V, Sydney R, Celina S, Riley S, Emma B, Lauren B, Jena H, Jinda G, Azia R, and Jess F are all on the black team. Sammy P, Gracie B, Alison Z, Ally Z, Brooke B, Hannah A, Maddie M, Jenni M, Emily H, and Jamie K are all on the red team. Select basketball is now over, yet we were scheduled to play games on most Sundays and possibly Saturdays. We’ve survived through most painstaking tournaments.

Boys Activities/Sports By: Carlos & Colin

Basketball- A lot of kids in our class play basketball. Three of them play Rec and 4 of them are on select. The four in Rec are Joey, Matt, Colin and Zach. Joey’s team has won one game and lost six. Matt’s team has won three and lost 4. Colin’s team has won 7 and hasn’t lost. They are expected to win the Opie tournament. Zach’s unfortunately went 2 and 5 for the season. The four kids that play select are Seth, Jack and me (Carlos). We have won 3 out of 4 tournaments. We are going to state and most likely going to win. Joey is on the Red team. His team is doing very well.

Baseball- Not a lot of kids in our class play baseball. Only 4 people play. Joey and Seth are on the Horizon Hawks. They are only practicing indoor at the moment. Our sources say that Seth is doing well in batting and Joey is doing well in the outfield. Colin is on the Pewaukee Pirates. Colin is pitching, hitting and fielding well. Drew plays for the Rockies his team only lost 3 games last season

Soccer- J.B.’s indoor team did very well. They were 500 which means they won as many games as they lost. Jacob said his team is doing pretty good. Ben is on Jacob’s team and they both are good at it.

Hockey- Noah’s hockey team unfortunately didn’t get to state. Colin’s team is really good. He goes to different states to play. He is expected to go to the NHL and be the number one pick in the 1st round. He is probably going to go to the Red Wings and score the winning goal for the Stanley Cup.

Football-Jacob, Seth and I are on the Football team. We went 7 and 1. WE ARE BOSS‼‼‼!

Golf- I (Carlos) am the only one that plays golf. I am lonely. I can play pretty good.

Class Survey By: Ben & Jacob

Ben and Jacob survey people
From the survey of to see which color they like the most or both red or green. 10 voted for red, 4 voted for both, and 11 voted for green. So I can see they like green the most. Out of these 2 colors.

From the survey of vanilla and chocolate, or both. 12 voted for vanilla, 8 voted for chocolate, and 6 voted for both. So from this data I can tell my class likes vanilla the most.

So the winner for red or green is green in second came red, and in third came both. Now for the other survey for ice cream, vanilla is the winner, and in second place is chocolate, and in third last but not least is both.

Once there was a trigicorn (or a unicorn with 3 horns). His name was Carl. He was innocently walking through the woods when a sweet (maybe) chupacabra came up and gave Carl a pear. “Oh no thank you I don’t take food from strangers.” “It’ll will be fine little trigicorn it’s fresh and ripe.” “I don’t care; I don’t take food from strangers.” “If you eat it I’ll give this nice $100$ bill right here.” “Oh that makes a difference now I want the money; I need a new pair of horn caps. My far left horn has broken off. “Ohh then you would love to have this lovely pear.” And so Carl decided to take a bite of the pear and go on with his day.

It wasn’t until the next night that he figured out that he was having stomach issues due to the pear. He figured out that the chupacabra had poisoned him, and that he was going to die.

The next day he went back into the woods to beat up the chupacabra. He was about a mile into the woods when he had the feeling that someone was watching him from a distance. He turned around but nothing was there. So he started to hum his favorite song by Tiny Tim (Tiptoe).

He kept walking, and he heard a large crunch behind him. He turned around but again nothing was there. He got the sudden urge to run, so he did. He kept running until he thought it was safe. He found a broken down old shack about a mile away. He sat down outside because he wasn’t able to open the door because he didn’t have opposable thumbs. He didn’t think anything was wrong until the same chupacabra came and started circling the house. But what Carl noticed was not the same chupacabra was coming around the shack. He got really scared and started to make a plan.

His plan was to when the evil chupacabras weren’t looking to run as fast and as far as the chupacabras could. Let’s just say that they caught him and ate him. I really don’t want to talk about it.

Math: In math I am learning about how to cross divide fractions. Like n/35=65/74. It is kind of hard. We are also learning about How to find the surface area that was the easy part.

Social studies:
In social studies we made a map. It could be a map of anything it could even be a map of your room. I made a map a map on Africa. It was a political map.

Science:
In science we started on the universe. All of the planets and stuff like that. We had to make a game board, and we also had a packet to fill out going through all of the chapters. So we could get information for the game board.

Language Arts:
In language Arts we learned about Dialog. Dialog is what the person says different that don’t think sounds right. It is also is a word that you don’t use on a daily bases. Finally it is where you think they are.
