October By: J.B.

In spelling we are learning about changing the noun ending to s, es, change f to a v, drop the y and add ies, don’t change, and change the word. We have learned to use their, there, and they’re, your and you’re, its and it’s and to, too, two right.
In reader’s workshop we learned about foreshadowing, and the anatogonist and some other thing that I can’t remember. We have still been reading for 25 minutes. Now we write a response about what we read and the lesson we learned that day.
I science we finished up the ecosystem and biotic and abiotic factors. We have made a presentation about a biome. There are 7 main biomes they are taiga, tundra, dessert, grassland, tropical and temperate forest. I did the tundra. Then we had to say why Mrs. Fulfer would want to stay there.
In social Studies we finished our board games and took are test on Ancient Egypt. We are starting the Mesopotamia unit. We haven’t done big projects yet, but we have done some sheets of paper.
In math we have took are test on rate and ratio table. In the second unit we learned area and perimeter on a trapezoid and on hexagons, octagons, pentagons, and complex figures. We made a park and had to use the scale one inch is five feet. We took the test on unit two. We are just starting unit three. Which is fractions and decimals.
In language arts we are writing a personal narrative. We added dialog. We did strengthening sentences and show not tell. We are getting close to being done with the personal narrative. I am writing about the time I went to D.C. and puked on myself on a plane.
In band we are working on songs for our concert. We are doing 5 songs that we know of, they are Simple gifts of Christmas, countdown to Christmas, Tango bells, Hanukah celebration and one more.

Hi JB,

Nice update! It's great to read about all of the cool things you're learning -- you will have to remind me what "Mesopotamia" is, since I don't remember.

I'm looking forward to your Christmas concert this year -- keep practicing!

See ya.
