October Update By: Kathryn

Language Arts- We’ve been learning about different types of reading strategies. The class practices these strategies by using them as we read independently. Also, we have been working on writing and revising our personal narratives. A personal narrative is a writing piece that is based on an event that has happened to YOU. Mine is written about a family trip for spring break to Florida.

Math- In Mrs. O’Herns room we just got our graded tests back. I was really happy with my grade. We moved on to another lesson, which is long division. I surprisingly enjoy somewhat of math but that’s usually when I understand. 

Science- Particularly in the past few weeks, we have been researching and learning about biomes. Our task was to create a project on a specific biome. I did a Power Point on the tropical rainforest. It was really neat to see other students projects, too.

Social Studies- We have changed gears in S.S. Our class just began the topic of Mesopotamia. I thought it was really interesting to hear about the irrigation systems of times in the past. The Euphrates and Tigris rivers flood at an inconvenient time of crop season. Which is harvest.

Very nice! Good job with your writing.

Next time you should include something about the high school principal:)

Hi Kat ~ I liked your blurb and status update on happenings in your classroom this month. No wonder you are exhuausted by the end of the week! Lots of stuff going on - but really sounds fun. You did a really nice job detailing all your happenings. Take care! Next time can include something about the high school principal's wife! haha.. :)

Hey Kat,

I was so glad you gave me the demo of your power point presentation. Was very interesting. I liked the moving icons! The principal's sister-in-law really rocks too.
