6th Grade Highlights By: Greg & Seth
L.A. - One of our good memories from language arts was reading our book club books. We read Half-moon Investigations, which was a mystery book, and it was really fun trying to predict what was going to happen next. It was also pretty fun to make a claymation for Half-moon. We did a scene where one guy beat up the main character, Fletcher, with a curl bat… At night. We both greatly enjoyed making claymations.
Science - We both agree making the volcanoes was the most fun in science all year. We made our volcano together using Mentos and Diet Coke to make it erupt, but we also made a pulley system and used an remote control car to set the Mentos in the bottle. Sadly though, when we went outside to make it explode the wind kept messing up the angle of the volcano, so the Mentos wouldn’t land in the bottle, but it was still fun all the same.
Math - Once every quarter, in math, we do a project. In the third quarter, we had to invest in a car. We were given a yearly salary, and we had to figure in all the taxes, gas, tune ups, and insurance. For our project, we got a 1960’s white Corvette. We had extra money in the end, so we got a cool black and red paint job. We also got 5 star rims. If only we could have this car in real life.
Social Studies - At the very end of the Mesopotamia unit we made plays in groups, and we were in the same group. We were given about 5 topics, and we had to do different scenes that showed our knowledge of Ancient Mesopotamia. The plays were fun and comical, and I believe that everyone had fun.
Review - We are not sure what we will miss the most this year. There were a lot of fun activities, funny moments, and interesting comments. What we’ll probably miss most, is the mixture of different kids I our class that all became friends, some in a different way than others. What we’ll miss the most is all the funny moments we’ve had.
